One of the pieces Ann prepared was what I came to think of as "the sausage". It was quite a large piece of white, which she had folded, then pleated, then tied. The result was a tightly-packed cigar-shaped object. When she unwrapped it, she discovered that although the outside of her package achieved a very intense blue, the inside was almost entirely white!


Ann's button piece, however, was a resounding success. On the left is a bad picture of Ann with her beautiful piece, and on the right, some of the results of our first indigo dyeing day:
